Most of us spent the past couple of weeks at home. While it can be challenging to not be able to leave the house, this time is perfect to take good care of ourselves. Do you eat healthy? Do your move your body? What about your sleep hygiene and your spiritual practice? All important pillars for staying healthy and feeling good. Spring is in full bloom and soon we are going to go out again. Aren’t we all looking forward to celebrating life once all of this is over? I for sure do.

Today I talk about how to best support our natural beauty, and what roles vitamins and minerals play. Practical tips for beautiful skin, strong hair, and strong nails always come in handy, don’t they? Motto: Be prepared for good things to come your way.

Biogena Antioxidant Formula

Pure, fresh skin and a radiant complexion are the epitome of natural beauty. As a boundary layer between the inside of the body and the outside world, our skin is exposed to influences from both sides. Oxidative stress and increased highly reactive oxygen molecules can cause damage to our skin and health. These culprits develop in the body during metabolic processes, are triggered by nicotine, environmental toxins, UV radiation, and/or stress. Premature skin aging is one sign of high oxidative stress. We all know by now that intensive sunbathing should be avoided. It is essential to ensure a sufficient supply of antioxidants to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. Antioxidants bind free radicals in the body and render them harmless.

Food is of course always first. Colorful fruits and veggies (variety is key!) have ample amounts of vitamins and minerals with antioxidants effects. As our food chain is highly compromised, our soils depleted, and our food choices are often less than ideal, I always recommend to take high quality nutrition supplements. Biogena – a pure substance company from Austria – has a very effective, highly recommended Antioxidants Formula.

Biogena Skin Glow GOLD

A targeted, well-formulated supplement like Skin Glow Gold can make your skin glow and take care of it from the inside. Certain nutrients are especially equipped to do a brilliant job when it comes to skin health. Biogena Vitamin C Buffered 500 Gold, for example, supports the body’s own collagen production and protects cells against oxidative stress. Vitamin B12 plays an important role in protein metabolism and supports hormonal balance. As B12 can be mostly found in animal products, vegans are often low in vitamin B12. Biotin also known as vitamin H contributes to the preservation of normal skin functions. Vitamin E is another hero when it comes to protecting cells from oxidative stress.

Lush, thick hair is almost every girl’s dream. Pollution, lack of micronutrients, and the constant use of styling tools and colorants can damage your hair and make it weak, thin, and dry. We identify ourselves with our hair and want to maintain its beauty. It is an expression of our personality and individuality. Dull, weak or thinning hair can lower our self-confidence. Hair health and quality largely depend on the nutrient supply of the hair follicle. Nutrients enter the hair papilla via small blood vessels. This is responsible for the formation of the new hair cells that are particularly active in hair division. A nutrient-dense, colorful diet is therefore the basis for healthy, shining hair. Remember: We love the rainbow not only in the sky but also when it comes to what we eat.

Biotin plays an important role in maintaining our hair’s fullness. Foods such as eggs, cauliflower, banana, nuts, nut butters, spinach, and mushrooms provide good amounts of biotin.

Biogena 3-Salt Zinc Zinc, an important mineral for overall health, is a miracle worker when it comes to the beauty and structure of the hair. It is also essential for skin and nail health. Zinc is found in oat flakes, legumes, oysters, and nuts. Biogena’s Nourishing Hair Formula is a great supplement for shining, beautiful, healthy hair.

If you want to give your hair extra shine the natural way, try a DIY apple cider vinegar and rosemary hair rinse. With numerous vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, iron, and beta-carotene, it is much better than the chemical stuff.

Strong Nails!

Nails also love special care and attention. Many nail polishers contain softeners, such as triphenylphosphate, which is suspected to affect our hormonal system as well. The real culprit when it comes to nails is, however, nail polish remover. It extracts moisture from the nail and can make it brittle. Zinc and selenium are especially valuable for preserving nail health. Good to know: Brazil Nuts are a great plant based source for selenium.

If the nails are already suffering from the frequent use of nail polish, here’s one of grandma’s secrets: Nails can be naturally lightened by soaking them in fresh lemon juice, which is rich in vitamin C. Cold pressed olive oil applied afterwards will protect both cuticles and hands. The vitamin E in olive oil helps protect skin cells from oxidative stress. The oil also makes the skin soft and smooth.
