Alcohols like ethanol or ethyl alcohol, denatured alcohol, methanol, isopropyl alcohol, SD alcohol, and benzyl alcohol are not suitable to be included in skin care products in large amounts. These alcohols can disrupt skinƒ??s surface layers and cause dryness. These can be sensitizing to skin. Alcohol helps ingredients like retinol and vitamin C penetrate into the skin more effectively, but it is some what harmful to the skin as it breaks down the surface layers of skin. Healthy substances in the skin can be destroyed by over exposure to alcohols. Aging effect of skin can be increased by the over exposure of alcohols. So products containing high amounts of alcohol are not suitable for skin.
